Beard Care Through a Connecticut Winter
Cold air and dry heat will wreck a beard. A short routine keeps it in shape.
Stamford winters pull moisture out of everything — your skin, your hair, and your beard. A beard that felt soft in October turns brittle by January. The fix is short and cheap.
Wash it less than you think. Soap every day strips the oil your skin makes to protect the hair. Three times a week is plenty. Use a gentle wash, not body soap.
Oil daily. A few drops, worked in while the beard is still damp, keeps the hair flexible and the skin underneath from flaking. You do not need the expensive bottle.
Get the shape reset every few weeks. A beard grows unevenly, and once the lines drift, no amount of oil fixes it. We line the cheeks and neck and take off the scraggly ends so the beard keeps its frame.
Come in for a trim before it gets wild. A shaped beard in February beats a repair job in March.
